Today I joined The Resurrection Project, Mayor Lori Lightfoot, and Department of Housing Commissioner Marisa Novara to announce the launch of the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), an $80 million program that will assist with missed rent and utility payments dating back 12 months and up to 3 future months. This program is a critical step toward Chicago’s recovery from the impacts of COVID-19. These funds come from the Federal American Rescue Plan package.
Eligible applicants for ERAP must have a household income below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) and preference will be given to households who make less than 50% AMI. These funds will be available to Chicago residents regardless of citizenship status. Eligible Chicagoans can apply at Chicago.gov/RentHelp through Wednesday, June 8, 2021 at 11:59pm. If you need assistance applying, the ERAP Call Center is available by calling 312-698-0202 Monday through Friday, 9am to 7 pm and Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm.
CTA Red Purple Modernization Project
Today crews closed down Ardmore between Winthrop and the CTA viaduct, and this stretch of Ardmore will remain closed through the end of 2021. Unless there is dangerous construction activity on the street, at least one sidewalk will remain open to pedestrians during this extended closure, and there will be local access to the alley west of the viaduct.

Transfer work with the customers is going slower than expected with getting access so that is pushing back the restoration start times. PGL needs to have the majority of transfer work and retirement cut offs done before they can start concrete restoration. The 1500 block of Highland has been cleared to start restoration. Concrete restoration is expected to begin by the end of this week and into next week. All of this is weather permitting.
