Today marks the beginning of a 30-day Stay At Home Advisory issued by the City of Chicago. Under this order, Chicagoans are encouraged to stay home except for essential trips, to not have any non-essentials visitors in their homes, and all gatherings are restricted to a maximum of 10 people. Additionally, the City has updated the Travel Order. While Chicagoans are encouraged to hold off on any holiday travel plans, please click here to view the most up to date guidance regarding out-of-state travel.
In line with the Stay At Home Advisory, local public health officials are recommending that Chicagoans do not celebrate a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with people from outside of their household. I know this is going to be difficult, especially for people who live alone. Consider coordinating a Zoom dinner/cocktail hour/game night for Thanksgiving with your loved ones for this year’s celebration. Additionally, since we’ll all likely have fewer mouths to feed this year, consider taking a break from cooking and ordering in from one of our local restaurants:Andersonville Thanksgiving OffersEdgewater Restaurant GuideUptown Restaurant GuideAs we all continue to wear masks, wash our hands, and maintain social distance while we move into winter, it is also critically important that every gets vaccinated for the flu. This will help as we work to manage hospital capacity during the pandemic. Visit chicago.gov/flu for an interactive map to find the nearest location that is offering flu shots as well an information on CDPH’s Free Flu Shot Clinics.
