Public Safety Update – March 8, 2017

Yesterday a bomb threat was phoned into Chicago Jewish Day School, 5959 N. Sheridan. The Chicago Police Department responded immediately and school administration evacuated the premises to ensure the safety of students and staff. CPD Canine officers assisted with the investigation, which rendered the area clear and safe. Students returned to the school later in the morning. I want to thank the Chicago Police Department officers who responded to the incident.

This was a despicable and hateful crime that targeted innocent children from our community. The Chicago Police Department and FBI are actively investigating this incident. If anyone has any information, please contact Area North Detectives at 312-744-8263. If you observe hate crimes, please report them the 911.

Many people reached out to offer their support to Chicago Jewish Day School yesterday. This was one of a number of incidents that occurred around the country that targeted Jewish schools. It is critical at this time that we stay unified against hate in any form.
