About the Event:
The FMJ is a monthly, family-oriented, and free gathering for the community from May to October that centers on a public display of fire dancing. We promote safe practices in the fire arts via monthly community safety meetings. The Full Moon Jam is a fully permitted event through the Chicago Parks District and Chicago Fire Department, and part of the Night Out in the Parks event series.
The jams are run by a dedicated team of volunteer organizers, who devote their time, energy, and skills to curating the jams and growing the FMJ community. Everyone involved in each jam – performers, drummers, rangers, and other community members – regularly pitches in to keep the jams running smoothly and safely. Volunteers are the heart of the FMJ community and help to promote our core values of “Leave No Trace,” “Family-Friendly,” “Safety First,” and celebrating an inclusive, welcoming environment full of music, dancing, and fire.
